OTS #238 is only few days away next Monday at 7pm with double headers Charmaine Lee and Ed Sunspot! Join us in the main gallery for a night of music that pushes the boundaries of improvisational music!
Charmaine Lee is an Australian vocalist based in New York known for her intense, boundary-pushing performances that blur the line between voice, noise, and electronics. Using extended vocal techniques, feedback, and live processing, her live sets are immersive, unpredictable, and deeply physical, often moving between fragile textures and explosive sound. Her work has been described as “extraordinary” by The New Yorker, and she’s performed at major experimental music spaces across the U.S. and internationally. Regular collaborators include Conrad Tao, Eric Wubbels, and Ikue Mori, and she’s shared the stage with ensembles like Kronos Quartet and Wet Ink.
Ed Sunspot is the solo project of Lexington-based artist and musician Robert Beatty. Known for his vivid visual art and past musical work as Three Legged Race, Beatty continues to explore the outer edges of sound through dense textures, warped rhythms, and surreal atmospheres. His performances are unpredictable journeys that collapse the boundaries between analog synthesis, digital manipulation, and raw imagination. Drawing loosely from kosmische, early electronic music, and lo-fi experimentation, Ed Sunspot crafts sonic worlds that feel both futuristic and strangely out of time.
