Joe Minter’s African Village

This short film was produced by Nathan Jones at Minter’s African Village in Birmingham, Alabama. The artist explains his creative processes and political theories while the camera pans across still images of the artist’s environment. The film’s soundtrack, including music, was recorded on site by Jones.

Institute 193 Grand Opening – Louis Zoellar Bickett: Selections From The Archive

Institute 193 opened its doors to the world on October 15, 2009 with its first show, Louis Zoellar Bickett II: Selections From The Archive.  Hundreds of people siphoned through door from 5 – 9 PM including Ed McLanahan (author of the Natural Man), Jim Gray (Lexington’s Vice Mayor), William Morrow (Director of 21c), Guy Mendes (Southern Photographer), Joe Costa (CEO of the Red Mile) and too many others to mention.
